‘Little Journey‘ is a free mobile phone app to help children prepare for their MRI scan at home, before their hospital visit.
Please download the Little Journey App, type ‘Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital’, follow on-screen prompts, then select the relevant pathway for your child:
MRI awake (no cannula)
MRI awake (with cannula)
MRI with sedation
MRI with anaesthetic
‘Take a tour’ will allow your child enjoy a virtual journey around the children’s hospital with animated characters showing them the rooms they will visit, what will happen and who they will meet. They can even see what the MRI scanner looks like.
The app includes ‘bite-sized’ information articles about MRI scans for parents and caregivers and will help to answer other queries about the hospital visit.
There are fun distraction games and relaxation activities to help your child stay calm. Older children can choose which activities they would like to try in ‘MyZone’.
