Chaplaincy/Spiritual Care

Overview

NHS Grampian seeks to offer appropriate spiritual, pastoral and religious care to children, their families, carers and staff. This care is available to people with or without specified religious beliefs.

The particular needs of different faith groups and other groups within the area are respected and access to appropriate support offered. It is recognised that our beliefs and values can help us cope in times of illness, change or loss.

What do Healthcare Chaplains Do?

Healthcare chaplains provide spiritual, religious and pastoral care in all the hospitals in NHS Grampian. We do this by

  • being available for patients, relatives, carers, visitors and staff
  • Listening to your story
  • Offering space and time for reflection
  • Facilitating prayer, ritual and celebration
  • Holding a space in confidence no matter what a person’s faith or beliefs
