Overview
The Day Case Unit at RACH is a 15-bed, 3-bay unit which caters for children aged 0-16 years. The Unit provides a range of day surgery services including ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat), General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Maxillo-Facial Surgery, Dental Procedures, Gastroentorology and many others.
The Unit is currently in operation Monday to Thursday from 8am to 6pm.
Preparing For Your Visit
It is important that patients follow the instructions given, in particular sticking to the “nil by mouth” rules set out by the medical team. These will be communicated directly to patients but generally the rules and timings are as below.
Children and families are encouraged to bring a favourite toy, blanket or comforter with them. Families are also welcome to bring food into the hospital, for their child to have after their procedure. Hospital catering cannot necessarily cater for very specialised dietary requirements and/or for taste preferences.
