Oveview
The aim and purpose of the Pain Management Team is to improve the level of function and quality of life for children and young people and their families.
The pain management team consist of:
- 1 Consultant Anaesthetist with an interest in paediatric pain management.
- 1 Paediatric Pain Nurse Specialist.
In-patients services
Our in-patient pain service helps our acute pain patients recover from operations and the management other types of discomfort.
Out-patient services
The chronic pain service works collectively as a multi-disciplinary team, including physiotherapy and psychology and provide pain education and interventions through a biopsychosocial model of pain management.
This service offers users telephone, Near Me (video consults) and face-to-face appointments at the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital.

Referrals
We are a tertiary referral service, therefore patients should be referral by another hospital specialist or GP, by means of an electronic referral or by contacting us at gram.paediatricpain@nhs.scot
