OVERVIEW
Orthopaedics is the branch of medicine dealing with the correction of deformities or damage of bones or muscles. The NHS Grampian orthopaedic team work out of the following locations:
- RACH (Aberdeen)
- Dr Gray’s (Elgin)
- Community Child Health and Orthopaedic clinic (HICC) Aberdeen City, Fraserburgh, Inverurie, Stonehaven)
- Orkney
- Shetland
Where we support paediatric patients with the following services:
- Paediatric orthopaedic trauma
- Musculoskeletal infection multidisciplinary care
- Gait analysis
- Orthopaedic neuromuscular hip reconstruction and gait improvement surgery
- Childhood and adolescent hip conditions
- Club foot service following Ponseti protocols, led by specialist physiotherapists
- Paediatric and adolescent knee service
- Upper limb service, with joint plastic surgery and orthopaedic clinic
- Spina bifida specialist multi-disciplinary clinic
- Orthopaedic oncology care delivered jointly with our colleagues at ARI.
- Casting and orthotic service
- Prosthetic service
