‘Little Journey’ is a free app, designed to help children prepare for their MRI scan at home, before their hospital visit.
Please download the Little Journey App, type ‘Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital’, follow the on-screen prompts, then select the relevant pathway for your child:
MRI awake (no cannula)
MRI awake (with cannula)
MRI with sedation
MRI with anaesthetic
‘Take a tour’ to let your child enjoy a virtual tour of the children’s hospital with animated characters showing them the rooms they will visit, what will happen and who they will meet. They can even see what the MRI scanner room looks like.
The app includes ‘bite-sized’ information articles about MRI scans for caregivers and will help to answer other queries about the hospital visit.
There are fun distraction games and relaxation activities to help your child stay calm. Older children can choose which activities they would like to try in ‘MyZone’.
